Senior Internships

Since 2025

Who

Mentees - Local high school seniors participating in a semester-long class focused on career exploration.

Mentors - Local professionals (age 20+) who have completed Companions for Children’s screening process and are able to host a student at their workplace during the semester.

What

Mentors are professionals working in a field that aligns with the student’s career interests. They host the student at their place of employment, providing real-world experience and insight into their industry. The goal is for each student to complete approximately 62 hours over the course of the semester through hands-on learning and observation.

When

Mentees are available to intern during their designated class period each school day. They may also take up to two full school days for additional internship time and are welcome to work after school or on weekends if appropriate for the role. Students are responsible for coordinating their schedule and tracking their hours.

Why

This program provides students with real-world exposure to potential career paths—helping them build confidence, develop workplace skills, and make more informed decisions about their future.
