World Of Work
Since 2024
Who
Mentees - Local high school students enrolled in a semester-long class designed to help them explore career interests and gain real-world experience.
Mentors - Local adult volunteers (age 20+) who have completed Companions for Children’s screening process and can commit to meeting with the high school student they’re paired with during the designated times throughout the semester.
What
Mentors are matched with students based on shared career interests, allowing the student to learn from someone actively working in a field they’re curious about. Together, matches participate in activities like Q&A sessions, mock interviews, resume reviews, and personal branding assessments.
When
Matches meet twice during the semester, with each meeting lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Meetings take place during the student’s class time or another designated time within the school day.
Why
This program gives students a meaningful glimpse into the working world—building confidence, sparking curiosity, and laying the groundwork for future success.
