Who

Mentees - Central Middle School Girls in 6th-8th grade

Mentors - Local adult female volunteers (age 20+) who have completed Companions for Children’s screening process and can commit to meeting with middle school students in a group mentoring setting during the designated times.

What

StrongHER is a pilot program designed to empower middle school girls in Minot through mentorship and skill-building.

When

Over the course of four 45-minute sessions during the school day, students will take part in interactive workshops led by local experts. Each session is designed to be practical and relevant to the challenges girls face at this stage in life. What makes StrongHER unique is the mentoring connection, pairing girls with female community leaders who can model confidence, resilience, and leadership while providing encouragement and guidance.

Why

StrongHER will give middle school girls the chance to build confidence, form supportive relationships, and practice real-world skills at a critical stage in their development. Middle school is a pivotal time when students are shaping their identities, facing peer pressure, and making choices that set the stage for high school and beyond. By participating in small groups, students will not only connect with mentors but also build healthy, supportive relationships with their peers.
